Local marketing
Your customers live nearby. Why only market where they search?
Search ads capture demand when someone types a query. Most neighbours are not searching yet. Print and local visibility reach them where they live.

You already know where your customers live. Your van route, delivery radius, and Google Business Profile service area all point at the same map. Yet many small businesses spend almost every marketing euro on places customers go to search: Google, comparison sites, social retargeting.
Search marketing is demand capture. It works when someone is ready to buy and types "emergency plumber near me" or "best sushi delivery." It does little for the household that will need you in six weeks but is not looking today.
Search intent has a ceiling
Even strong local SEO only reaches people in active research mode. That is a slice of your market, not the whole neighbourhood. The rest are commuting, scrolling, or dealing with something else entirely.
If your growth plan assumes everyone will eventually Google you, you are waiting for pain points instead of staying visible before they happen.
Interruption still has a place locally
A well-targeted leaflet, a van wrap on your usual roads, or a sponsorship at a school fair puts your business in front of people who could hire you. You are not interrupting strangers on the other side of the country. You are introducing yourself to plausible neighbours.
The message should be narrow: one service, one offer, one call to action. Broad "we do everything" leaflets get recycled.
Combine capture and discovery
Use search and listings to win the ready-now jobs. Use print and local presence so your name is familiar when the ready-now moment arrives. Track branded searches and QR scans after a drop to see if offline work is lifting online behaviour.
Start with the map you already draw
List postcodes or streets where existing customers cluster. Run a small leaflet test there before you widen SEO keywords to every adjacent town. Relevance beats reach when your crew only travels 15 miles anyway.
Track branded searches for two weeks after the drop. A lift often shows print introduced the name before Google captured the click. That is the channel working together, not either-or.
flyerfly helps local businesses count QR scans from those postcode tests so search and print reports tell one story.
